Joining and Registration

St. Joseph’s Parish belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Helsinki.

If you are not yet Catholic

Before entering the Catholic Church, you need to become familiar with its faith and life, usually through an introduction course.
Please contact the parish priest of the Catholic parish in the area where you live, who can guide you through the process of entering the Church and the preparation required.

If you are Catholic and have moved to Finland from another country

You need to register with the Catholic Church in Finland. Through this registration, you become a member of one of the Catholic parishes operating in the country.
We kindly ask you to contact the parish after moving to Finland and request the registration form, so that your information can be updated correctly.

Why is registration important?

  • You will receive up-to-date information about Mass schedules, events, and parish activities.
  • The parish will be able to assist you properly with the sacraments and pastoral needs.
  • Registration is part of the normal administrative structure of the Catholic Church in Finland.
  • Being registered in the Finnish Population Register as a Catholic (Digi- and Väestötietovirasto) also supports the position of the Catholic Church in Finland.
